Jewellery Trends and Hong Kong Fair

Having returned from the Hong Kong Jewellery Fair, we give you the trends for this year.

Dressing the wrist was big at the Fair, whether in leather, in gold and silver, in wraps, mesh or cuffs. Filigree work was also huge, especially in earrings. Large rings, eternity bands and opera length chains in gold and silver featured. Silver, being more cost effective than gold, was big.

Here are the trends:

Timeless Classic
This design trend appeals to the classic woman in diamonds and gold. It is refined and elegant, bringing a touch of luxury and effortless polish to everyday wear. Yellow, white and rose gold are used together and apart. We found some really cost effective eternity rings in black diamonds, cognac diamonds and enamel at the fair.

Retro Revival
Inspired by 1940s tea dresses and 1950s fashion, jewellery include pearls, beads, softly brushed metal and neutral colours, although pastel colours work well here too. We loved the tiny rough cut yellow sapphire and emerald necklaces, tiny seed pearl necklaces and pearl bracelets. Our South Sea pearl pendants are stunning too.

Nature Inspired
These designs are inspired mostly by colourful floral motifs and include vibrant colours like turquoise, bright pink, reds and greens echoing fashion’s feel for Mexican and island prints. We bought stunning watches with vibrant coloured wrap straps, beads and studs. Our pearl and leather bracelets are gorgeous too as are our stone rings and bracelets in turquoise and greens.

Beyond the Ordinary
Think big gems and steel. We have lusciously big stone rings and shiny cuffs as well as gorgeously large earrings in gold and silver.

Techno Inspired
Industrial jewellery with cutting edge design. This is a high quality finish look which goes well with block colour, or team with a silk shirt and red jeans! We found some beautifully crafted bracelets from Germany and high shine cuffs from Italy.

Cool Bohemian Chic
Inspired by traditional techniques – beads, wood, resin, ribbon and natural stones – with a dash of gold for glimmer makes this look. Think handmade jewellery. We found some great pieces from India, glamorous bangles and necklaces and some gorgeous leather and diamond bracelets from Asia.
